If you’re one of the many working from home right now you’re probably experiencing first-hand just how challenging it can be. No judgey co-workers to keep you from endless trips to the snack cabinet. Infinite distractions, in the furry friend and kid departments. And why is it so dang hard to get anything done while sitting on the couch?

Of course, we know it’s a real privilege to be able to work from home during this craziness. Many don't have that option and risk their own safety to continue their job or face unemployment. With so much uncertainty in the world, it can be difficult to get into the workflow right now. Take some inspiration from these six chic at-home workspaces from our archives and dream of healthier, more productive days ahead.

Sophie Burke 2

A Bright and Airy Kitchen Nook

Designer Sophie Burke proves once and for all that having a killer home office doesn't require a lot of space. This one is tucked off the side of the kitchen, out of the way but still in full view of all the action. Soft grey millwork cabinets and drawers sleekly conceal plenty of storage while brass hardware and antique metallic elements add just the right amount of interest.

A Serene Office Oasis

A Serene Office Oasis

This chic modernist office blends neutral colours and natural materials for a grounded contemporary feel. Jamie Deck and the team at Shift Interiors custom made the desk to fit the space perfectly using Ikea filing cabinets and a slab of walnut wood. A glass box of treasures and a family-heirloom pair of antlers personalize the space, while wooden chair legs and a woven storage basket add a splash of the organic.

Dhillon

A Compact Desk with a Statement Backdrop

Designer Anna Dhillon turned an otherwise awkward architectural dip into a functional and sophisticated workspace with a custom-built oak secretary desk. Neutral warm elements on matching floating shelves pop against the stone statement wall.

Kelly Deck

A stream-line L-shaped desk offers plenty of workspace for Mom and kids in this glamourous study by Kelly Deck Design. Cabinets and drawers adorned with elegant gold hardware provide a drool-worthy amount of storage while a velvet armchair offers a perfect reading spot. Overhead, a Sputnik chandelier and geometric wallpaper add an unexpected and playful element to the room.

Alana

Two for the Space of One

Designer Alanna Dunn of Reena Sotropa In House Design Group opted for a large multiuse surface in this luxe home office. The sizable table extends out from the built-ins, providing enough space for two to comfortably spread out. A patterned message board is flanked by custom shelves, showcasing treasures in gold, whites and blues.

Ami McKay

This tricky under-the-stairs space gets a functional makeover with this textural kid's workspace by Ami McKay of Pure Design. A linen pinboard is decorated with travel keepsakes and barnyard cabinetry provides a clever solution to storage. The red chair and rotary phone are fun addition to the otherwise neutral colour scheme.
