This Chilliwack home keeps things simple (and sophisticated).
We’ve all had moments where we’ve been dazzled by an over-the-top chandelier or a mable-on-marble-on-marble home spa, but for two busy entrepreneurs living in Chilliwack, B.C., a true dream home is all about a less-is-more vibe.
“They really just wanted a simple home that took advantage of a beautiful natural setting and natural light,” says Chris Klaassen, owner of Alair Homes Chilliwack. “Something that created a real sense of calm and peace.”
The custom builder worked with SuCasa Design and Gregory Funk Design to create a minimalist and modern space for the couple and their three kids. A neutral palette was employed for the 3,936-square-foot home, using natural concrete for feature walls and flooring alongside wood flooring and ceiling beams.
Fresh white paint on the walls draws the eyes to custom black window frames, many of which surround floor-to-ceiling windows; floating wood treads on a steel stringer create a light and airy look for the entryway. On the ground floor, natural polished concrete extends out to the back patio to connect the interiors with the outdoors.
The sleek home is simple, yes, but sophisticated toobright, airy and uncluttered, and just the right setting for a power couple’s dreamy home base.
