Today—Pantone Colour of the Year Announcement Day—the prestigious Color Institute did not let us down, declaring 2020 the year of Classic Blue and inspiring a flurry of emails that swept through the design industry.
The official statement for this momentous decision: "Instilling calm, confidence, and connection, this enduring blue hue highlights our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era."
The Pantone website goes on to call Classic Blue "reflective" and claims it brings "a sense of peace and tranquility" as well as "laser-like clarity." Only time will tell if this soothing hue actually improves our mental health, but we can tell you right now: we're all for an excuse for a home makeover... and we've already scoured our favourite shops for pieces to bring this colour home.
