The Quebec retailer has landed in West Vancouver with its signature high-low approach to style.

Hot on the heels of Vancouver losing it’s mind over getting our first Nordstrom, comes the arrival of another retailer whose arrival is going to change the way we shop.Simons has been a force in La Belle Province since 1840 (yes 1840!), but it wasn’t until a few years back that they expanded outside the province, to a sprawling shop in West Edmonton Mall. What Albertans soon realized was that Simons was not like any other store. It’s a place where you can buy a $1,000 pair of Costume National shoes or a $5 pair of socks and both will accord you the royal treatment by the attentive staff. Upon entering we were immediately struck by a piece from Vancouver artist Bobbie Burgers (we shot her summer home last year).IMG_4360And while the clothes are amazing, some of the best finds lurk in the store’s homewares department. It’s here where Simon’s has many of their own lines that have a mix of style and affordability that does not exist anywhere else in the West. An Example?IMG_4393This pillow that somehow blends cubism, horse racing and soft goods is $9.99. For reals.IMG_4402This felt bowl (which breaks down to lie flat should you ever need it) is $5!IMG_4396There’s an entire display of fashionable hot water bottles (how Canadian) with your choice of owls, elk, cable knit or Chamonix—for $15 each.IMG_4400These elk-themed bathroom accessories start at $5, a price that sort of makes it reasonable for you to go buy a log cabin to decorate. And if you’re going to buy the cabin may we suggest this note-perfect bedding ensemble?IMG_4389 (1)
