Designer awards call for a designer award.
For the first time ever, Western Living Designers of the Year winners will receive an award handcrafted by none other than two-time Furniture Designer of the Year winner, Michael Thomas Host of MTH Woodworks.“I feel honoured to have been approached by WL for the design and production of this year’s DOTY awards,” says Host. The Vancouver designer is no stranger to transforming found materials into works of art, and Host says the inspiration for Western Living’s first designer award came from where we live and the name of the magazine itself. “I wanted to go back to basics and choose a material that is really relevant to all of us living here on the West Coast.”Like much of his work, the new DOTY 2015 award is representative of MTH Woodworks’s signature style. “I feel like the awards this year showcase both beautiful, natural materials and modern technology.”So what does the award look like? All will be revealed next week at the Designers of the Year 2015 awards, September 17.
