Winnipeg's Jenna Rae Cakes bakery is finally offering Canada-wide shipping.
You know those Instagrammers you just love—the ones whose photos you can’t help but double-tap for? Well, for me, it’s Jenna Rae Cakes.I’m not entirely sure how it happened, but one day I decided to follow the Winnipeg bakery and they’ve been flooding my feed with cakes and cupcakes, brownies, cream puffs, meringues and macarons, each one prettier than the last—and with incredible-sounding flavours, too—ever since. They also have a knack for hosting what they call “Theme Thursdays.” They boasted cotton candy, caramel apple, and Coca Cola float macaron flavours for Carnival Day; an annual Harry Potter theme (held July 28 for the fictional character’s birthday, no less) has them serving whimsical Hogwarts treats like Pumpkin Pastie “cream Hufflepuffs” and Sorting Hat cake gems—a pretty big deal for my inner HP nerd.Unfortunately, based in B.C., I’ve had to admire their treats from afar, not yet able to taste them for myself (though I have, on more than one occasion, contemplated booking a quick trip to Manitoba). But that’s all about to change. In what can only be called a dream come true, sisters and co-owners Jenna and Ashley Illchuk—better known as Jenna Rae and Ashley Nicole, respectively—have finally added Canada-wide shipping to their online shop. Macarons (12 for $35) will be the only treats available when it launches Saturday, September 2, but that’s enough for me (at least for now).
