Window Display

The skylight in this first-floor powder room gave the team Measured Architecture (which just won its fifth Designers of the Year award) the opportunity to do something entirely unique. “I would never have designed that on a blank piece of paper, but it’s kind of a fabulous space,” says architect Piers Cunnington. “You’ve got great light and a window out to the west—it’s like a charm that comes out of the geometry of the existing residence.” See the rest of this modern beach house.

Right Angle

As if the geometric tile doesn’t provide enough interest, designer Denise Ashmore added a Flos IC Suspension pendant to this powder room—which just so happens to be in her own Vancouver home. The light mirrors the angles on the wall and looks great next to the custom walnut cabinetry. Peek inside this airy abode.

Dark Matter

There’s so much to love about this Shannon Bradner-designed powder room. The oversized rounded (and backlit!) mirror, the quirky Mind the Gap wallpaper, the floating vanity and the Watermark Brooklyn tap come together in an out-of-this-world look that’s both moody and modern. Space Saver

Powder rooms can be tiny, which means designers need to come up with clever ways to maximize both visual and physical space. But that’s not the only reason the team at Falken Reynolds decided to replace a traditional vanity with a beautifully made table—it also brings the finer details (the Dornbracht Imo faucet, the Halo Blu-Stone vessel sink and the Bocci 28 wall sconces) to the fore. If you love something, let it go use it more than once. This powder room designed by Annaliesse Kelly has a few elements that can also be spotted elsewhere in this 2,100-square-foot Kerrisdale home. The rich maroon colour and hand-painted concrete tiles can also be found in the entryway; meanwhile, the fluting detail on the vanity can also be spotted on the living room’s coffee and console tables. Quiet Reflection

If we didn’t know any better, we’d say this powder room was in a serene spa facility. With natural oak slats, an exquisite dipped-glass pendant light and limestone counters, 2024 Interior Designer of the Year Sophie Burke created a refined, relaxing space and what she calls “an immersive experience.” Tour this Vancouver harbour house.

Good Scents

Every bathroom in this 8,700-square-foot home has its own personality and style. While the powder room on the main floor features a vanity made of sliced geodes, designers Paul Lavoie and Julie Lanctot finished the lower-level powder room with a quirky banana-print and banana-scented wallpaper.
