1. Clean And Modern

Designed by Heather Howat and David Battersby, this airy master bedroom features a retracting glass wall made for inviting in natural light and summer warmth. Read more about this home’s makeover. (Photo Credit: Ema Peter)

2. Transparent Getaway

For this space, (designed by Frites de Vries Architects) the idea was to make the most of the topography. That meant nothing too big and bulky. The headboard is made from the same hemlock used on the ceiling, while a Marimekko duvet cover adds a splash of colour to the room. Read more about this island home.  (Photo Credit: Ema Peter)

3. Cool Chic

The inspiration behind this BattersbyHowat-designed cedar home was a combination of modern Mexico and the art of calligraphy. The striking dark accents act as the perfect framing device for the view outside, while the Portofino chair and Minotti ottoman create a calm, comfortable feeling. (Photo Credit: Ema Peter)

4. Calming Beauty

This 1959 Lewis post-and-beam home received a makeover from designer Negar Ghorashi, who made sure to make the most of its location. The floor lamp is the focal point of this bedroom, designed to reflect the tree canopy visible from the windows. Get a full tour of this home.  (Photo Credit: Martin Tessler)

The glass panels are the highlight of this vintage-meets-modern home. Renovated by Burgers Architecture, the windows invite a warm and natural glow to the space while the rug and side table pull everything together. Check out the full home post-renovation.  (Photo Credit: Jon Adrian)

6. Comfy Resort

With the help of designer Paul Lavoie, the cozy master bedroom of the late cable magnate Jim Shaw’s lakeside hideaway is exposed to a clean patio view and plenty of natural light. The linens give the room a calming vibe, making this space a great end-of-day retreat. See more of this lakeside home. (Photo Credit: Phil Crozier)

7. Wooden Paradise

Designed by Nyla Free and architect Marvin DeJong, the idea behind this space was to create something unexpected. The contemporary master bedroom features millwork on both sides of the entrance doors, storage on the lower half, built-in niches and inserts (painted black to resemble metal). Get a full tour of this Calgary home.  (Photo Credit: Ema Peter)

8. A Touch of Grey

Mitchell Freedland Design is the designer behind this luxe master bedroom. Boasting a soothing soft blue hue, the windows help provide just the right amount of scenery and natural lighting. The unique part of this space? The flame-stitched bed panels are up-lit in the evening, giving the room a moody glow. See more of this modern Whistler cabin.
