Some eye candy for your holiday break, as selected by the WL art department.
We wouldn’t be in the magazine business if we didn’t love big, pretty pictures—and our art team gives us just that each and every month. As we get ready to wrap up an eventful year here at the WL office (we introduced a new format and new logo in 2015), we’re taking a break to give some favourite shoots one last good look. What’s your favourite photo story from the last year? We’d love to hear from you on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, by email, or in the comments below. Here’s to another beautiful year.
After featuring Measured as our Designers of the Year architecture winner for 2015, we delved deeper into their work with a full feature on principal Clinton Cuddington’s home in a later issue. The space is full of eclectic touches and artisanal features. See the full photo shoot here.
It wasn’t hard to make Julie Van Rosendaal‘s cookie recipes look gorgeous in this ultra-pretty food shoot. Check out all the delicious pics (along with winning recipes) here.
Interior designer Carrie McCarthy celebrates the luxury of simplicity in her sparse-but-cozy Pender Island vacation home. Though the palette is white-on-white, the space is anything but lifeless, as photographer John Sinal showcases with his shots. See more photos of McCarthy’s home here.
This gorgeous West Coast Modern home has made plenty of our year-end lists, and it’s easy to see why. Award-winning photographer Martin Tessler perfectly captures the warmth that can be found in a home made of so much concrete and glass. See the full shoot here.
We paired sumptuous designs—the new furniture design leans towards velvet and brass, walnut and copper, jewel tones and marble—with an elegant backdrop, shooting on location in Vancouver at The Permanent. See the full shoot here.
If these summery photos of painter Bobbie Burgers’s easy, breezy dinner party is any indication, she may be living our dream life. Candid snapshots of effortless entertaining made this gorgeous shoot one for the books. See the full outdoor entertaining story here.
Just one look at this photo essay, and you can see why Edmontonians line up out the door for Duchess Bakery’s goodies. See the good-enough-to-eat pictures (Lemon tart! Cherry pie!) and recipes here.
