Twenty executive 3-bedroom residences at 1555 West Eighth showcase natural light and design-forward details

Edwin Liang of Kenstone Properties explains that the creative inspiration for 1555 West Eighth came from a simple question: “What about a building of penthouses?” And so began the planning for the side-by-side four and eight-storey concrete buildings, coming to the South Granville neighbourhood in 2017.While attention to every minute detail is obvious throughout the project—including the latest Jaga of Belgium heating and cooling systems and custom Friul Intagli Italian cabinetry—it is perhaps the emphasis on the interplay between form and natural light that most distinguishes this minimalist design by Office of McFarlane Biggar Architects and Designers. The building footprint carves away to reveal an elevated private courtyard and central lightwell. Generous open-plan spaces feature floor-to-ceiling double-glazed windows, angled towards principal views (the Pacific Ocean, the Downtown skyline and the North Shore Mountains, to be precise), and lead out to generous balconies and patios, maximizing the attraction of city centre living. The philosophy for designing with a clarity of purpose permeates throughout. We can go on about the innovative metal cladding exterior, all the luxurious interior finishes or all of the neighbourhood’s award-winning amenities (The Farmer’s Apprentice and Beaucoup Bakery are just around the corner), but instead we’ll just attest that 1555 West Eighth lives up to Kenstone’s promise: creating progressive living spaces that stand the test of time. For more information, register online at www.1555w8.com
