Three designers show us how to style one bed three very different ways.
Just like there’s more than one way to bake a cake, there’s more than one way to incorporate a signature piece into a space. In the hands of different designers, a faux fur ottoman can work just as well in a glam bachelor pad as it does in a modern mountain cabin. To have a little fun, we asked interior designers Alykhan Velji, Samantha Ritchie and Dexter Dolores to style a whole look based around this new Edlyn leather bed from Anthropologie. They could pick any colour of the bed, but each designer had to use this one piece as their jumping off point. Here’s what they came up with.
“This is a soft and romantic look, but with an edge. Colours like black and gold are used to create a dramatic and bold impact when mixed with soft ‘romantic’ classic finishes, such as mouldings and chinoiserie wallpapers. Think of Marie Antoinette and Beyonce’s love child!” —Alykhan Velji, Alykhan Velji Designs
Get the Look: Black Bennet nightstand, Ridgemont Swing Arm wall sconce, Eileen Fisher washed linens bedding, Portobello Design’s pitch-dyed silk wallpaper by Degournay, One Kings Lane pink velvet pillows, Anthropologie Wooded Manor mirror, vintage Sherrell grey area rug, Marie-Antoinette bust, Kelly Wearstler small Coquette box, West Elm faceted metal vases, ornate mouldings (photo from A+B Kasha).
“Clean, sophisticated and stylish, incorporating both modern accents and traditional elements executed with a current flare.” —Samantha Ritchie, Jenny Martin Design
