The chair of Media Architecture Design Edmonton (MADE) shares his thoughts on the thriving Edmonton design scene.
“Design is a way to respond to the city’s unique challenges—climate, or our recent economic boom—in a way that serves us as citizens. I think there’s a sense of collaboration among designers in Edmonton, but that’s true of other industries as well, like restaurants. Everyone’s supportive, rather than competitive, and that offers a great opportunity to be creative and make things.”The MADE Street Furniture Competition runs during the Works Art and Design Festival, June 19 to July 1. theworks.ab.ca.
