Winners of the 10th annual Homebuilders Association Vancouver Ovation Awards were announced on May 4.

It was a night of celebration this past weekend, as the Ovation Awards from the Homebuilders Association of Vancouver (HAVAN) took over the grand ballroom at the JW Mariott. The goal is to showcase local builders, developers, designers, and other professionals who create—often literally from the ground up—beautiful homes for average Vancouverites. Each year, HAVAN awards recipients in categories that consider renovation cost as well as type and size of development. Check out some of the winners below.

Multi-Family Builder of the Year: Adera Development Corporation 

Adera took home not one, not two, but five awards this year: Multi-family Builder of the Year, Best Townhouse Development, Best New Outdoor Living Space, Best Residential Community, and Best Multi-Family Low-rise Development. And they couldn’t have come at a better time: Adera also happens to be celebrating 50 years in business.

Single Family Builder of the Year: Miracon Developments Inc. 

Miracon was also very successful at the awards, collecting four wins for Single-Family Builder of the Year, Best Single-Family Detached Home, Best Residential Community: Single Family, and the FortisBC Award for Excellence in Energy Efficiency in New Residential Construction. The Surrey-based developer specializes in modern, efficient homes.

Custom Home Builder of the Year: Tavan Developments Ltd. 

Tavan took home three awards, including Custom Home Builder of the Year, Best Custom Home: $2 million–under $3 million, and Best Renovation $200,000-$399,999. This isn’t their first rodeo though—they’ve been picking up Ovation Awards since 2012.

Residential Renovator of the Year: Rodrozen Designs Inc.

Rodrozen also celebrated with three wins: Residential Renovator of the Year, Best Bathroom Renovation $35,000 and over, and Best Renovation Over $1 million. Their business specializes in design-build renovations, contracting and project management.

Blackfish Homes, a company that uses sustainable products and focuses mainly on residential projects, had three wins: Best Renovation: $700,000-$1 million, Best Custom Home $1 million–under $2 million, and Excellence in Building Science Innovation in Residential Construction. Davenport Homes had three wins: Best Kitchen Renovation: $75,000-$125,000, Best Townhouse/Condominium Renovation $300,000 and Over, and Best Renovation: $400,000-$699,999. (The condo above was also in our Jan/Feb issue celebrating great spaces, designed by Geralynne Mitschke.) They mainly focus on custom builds and multi-family housing projects.
