Circle Craft's Christmas Market returns for its 43rd year of showcasing the best artists and craftspeople from B.C. and across Canada.
Circle Craft prides itself on supporting handcrafted products and local artisans, and has been doing so for 43 years. The annual Christmas Market is a five-day exhibition of their members’ best work. Taking place at the Vancouver Convention Centre from November 9-13, the market has over 300 exhibitors who prove that sometimes handmade, home-grown, one-of-a-kind items really are best, whether you want to start holiday shopping early or just want to treat yourself. Here are some of our favourite artisans from this year’s line-up:EntWood Turnings Made from fallen trees and logs, these bowls are cut, sanded, stained and glazed by hand. They’re art-gallery worthy, but even better than that—they’re also functional. Serving Caesar salad has never been more impressive.Salt Spring Island Cheese Company Who doesn’t love goat cheese? With toppings from fresh basil to olive tapenade to edible flowers, these beautiful chèvres are sure to impress. Pair one of these with a sauvignon blanc from Montakarn Winery and your next get-together is a guaranteed success.
Montakarn Estate Winery One of more than 50 new exhibitors at this year’s Christmas Market, Montakarn Winery started in 2003 and now has several different reds, whites, and rosés—a few of which have recently won awards. Be sure to check out these local wines while you can (without trekking all the way to Oliver). Adam and Kev Photography This gorgeous coffee table book is a collection of portraits and stories from all types of Vancouverites. The photography is stunning and the writing gives insight to the city’s people, culture, and history. It’s a picturesque way to experience the city—and the perfect gift for out-of-town relatives.Salt Spring Island Beeswax Works A craft market would not be complete without its fair share of handmade soaps and candles. These artisans take beeswax to the next level with their beautiful carved and moulded candles. Their Christmas themed items are a great way to bring the holiday spirit of the market home. Banquet Atelier and Workshop Another new exhibitor at the market, Banquet Atelier and Workshop is a Vancouver-based studio that makes screen printed stationery, prints, and textiles. Send off a few of their whimsical holiday cards to friends and relatives, or use their imaginatively designed cushions and tea towels year round. AW by Andrea Wong Each backpack, wallet, handbag and tote from Andrea Wong’s line of fashion accessories is designed and hand-sewn in Vancouver. Super durable and weather resistant, these bags are made with the Pacific Northwest climate in mind. And they’re made to look better over time—which is saying something because they’re already gorgeous.
